Police: Facebook Postings Lead To Shots Fired Into Several Tulsa Homes

Police say three shootings in Tulsa Tuesday night could be related to posts placed on Facebook, following a fight and suspensions from McClain high school.

Police say one common denominator in all three shootings, is a 17-year-old girl who was suspended Tuesday, even though she wasn't at any of the houses when the shots were fired.

Police say the first shooting happened on North Saint Louis around 10:30 Tuesday night. They say shots were fired into the air, no houses were hit and no people. 

The man who lives at the home said he didn't know why it happened.

The second shooting was just 15 minutes later on East 42nd Street North. Bullet holes in the windows are plainly visible from the street.

Police say eight people were inside at the time and it's a wonder, no one was hit or even killed.

"We have had homicides where people in bed are shot in the head. It's not a far stretch to think shooting a gun into a house where you don't know where it's going, bad things will happen," said Tulsa Police Sergeant Dave Walker.

The third shooting happened 30 minutes after the second on East 58th Street North, and two bullets went through the house into the living room; one barely missed a four year old little girl. She was one of 10 people home at the time.

"In this day and age when kids have guns and it's the way they want to resolve it, nothing good can come of it. I just can't imagine if we have retaliation from this one, what innocent kid is going to be shot," Walker said.

A family member said Monique Gant had been exchanging words with other girls at McClain high school and it came to a head Tuesday.

He says Gant was jumped and suspended and there were hard feelings over who started what and who got punished. He said more words were being exchanged on Facebook later that night.

He believes the brothers of the girls in that fight are the ones who decided to shoot at houses of people connected to Monique.

"To carry out a threat because somebody said something to somebody is a sad commentary on the way we're taking care of a high school squabble," Walker said.

Tulsa public schools would not tell us why the girl was suspended or for how long.
