TULSA, Oklahoma – The Oral Roberts women began Summit League play with a dominant 109-59 blowout of Southern Utah Saturday.
Kevi Luper led the way, going 12-of-22 from the field for 31 points. Jaci Bigham scored 13, while Jordan Pyle and Amber Carver each added 10.
The Golden Eagles shot 51 percent from the field as a team and forced a season-high 36 turnovers. Southern Utah shot just 35 percent from the field.
ORU started slow and held a 10-8 lead early in the first half. But the Eagles responded with a 15-0 run to widen the gap, and another run of 8-0 later in the half gave them a 48-29 lead at halftime.
ORU did not slow down in the second half. It went on another run early in the second half, this time a 12-1 spurt to widen the lead to 30. The Eagles continued to build on that lead for the rest of the night.
The 50-point margin of victory was ORU's largest since a 101-66 win over Centenary on Feb. 19. The win ended a two-game losing streak for the Eagles, who will have a week off before facing Arkansas at 7 p.m. on Dec. 10.
