TULSA, Oklahoma -- Starting a business in this gloomy economy may not seem like the best idea. But one of Oklahoma's own is using your frustrations to fuel his big idea.
It's called simply "Gripe at Me." Owner Jim Luman says it started as a joke on eBay.
"I was surprised at the reaction. I thought it would be more of a tongue-in-cheek thing. And people would snicker at it and giggle a little bit. And then bids actually started coming in," Luman said.
Luman says 800 responses and a $29 winning bid got the wheels turning.
"I noticed that the general public is more frustrated, in my opinion, than they've ever been. Looking at that one of the main things they really need is an outlet," Luman said.
Dial up Gripe at Me and you can complain about anything, from bank bashing to pop culture pot-shots.
They can side with you and sympathize, or agitate and argue--all for $2.99 a minute. Ironically, many people pay to complain about money.
Luman says he hopes his business will act as a pressure relief valve and get friends and spouses off the hook.
And if you didn't like this story -- I've got a number you can call.
