OKLAHOMA CITY – The Forgan Bulldogs took over early and never looked back in a 73-45 win over the Lookeba-Sickles Panthers in Class B quarterfinals Thursday.
Forgan briefly fell behind 5-4 early in the first quarter, but responded with a 9-0 run. The Bulldogs did not trail again and continued to increase their lead for the rest of the night.
The Bulldogs led by as much as 33 points in the fourth quarter, and the lead hovered around that number until the final buzzer sounded. Forgan mass substituted its bench players with about three minutes left in the game.
Forgan’s 73 points were the most scored by any Class B team Thursday, and their 28-point margin of victory was by far the largest of the tournament. The other three games each stayed close into the fourth quarter.
The Bulldogs will now advance to the state semifinals, where they will face Paden at 9 p.m. Friday at the state fairgrounds. Paden defeated Medford 65-54 earlier in the day Thursday.
