KINGFISHER, Oklahoma – The Kingfisher Yellowjackets continued their impressive playoff performance Friday with a 14-8 victory over Tuttle in a defensive struggle.
The Yellowjackets (8-3) have relied on their explosive offense for most of the year, having only been held to 14 or fewer points twice during the regular season. But they could not move the ball as easily against the stout defense of Tuttle (7-4).
Kingfisher was coming off a dominant 55-21 victory over No. 1 seed Perkins-Tryon, and the Yellowjackets are the only No. 4 seed to make it to the quarterfinals. Their side of the bracket now consists of themselves and three other No. 1 seeds – Beggs, Anadarko and Metro Christian.
Kingfisher will move on to face Beggs in the quarterfinals. Beggs narrowly escaped the first round with a 13-7 victory, but blew out Verdigris 55-25 in the second round.
