OKLAHOMA CITY -- After opening the 2009 season with three straight losses, the Heritage Hall Chargers won eight of their next nine games on their way to a playoff berth. Their title defense came to an end in the Class 2A quarterfinals at the hands of the Pawhuska Huskies.
In 2010, the Chargers are moving up a class and coach Andy Bogert is bringing enough talent to once again make a run at a Gold Ball.
Leading the way for the Chargers is their dynamite running back Barry Sanders Jr. who rushed for more than 1,700 yards a season ago and added another 300 in the passing game. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound junior will continue to make a name for himself as the scholarship offers continue to roll in.
Along with their seven returning starters on offense, the Chargers boast seven returners on defense as well. Patrolling the interior of the defense will be three returning linebackers – Ross Clifton, Brandon Moews and Cale Courtney – who combined for 154 tackles in 2009.
