OWASSO, Oklahoma – Some Owasso drivers got a break at the gas pump Wednesday night.

From 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, drivers at a Shell station in Owasso filled up for just $2.99 a gallon.

The members of Friendship Baptist Church picked up the tab for everyone to top off their tanks at a discount.

"We just want to be an encouragement to the community that we live in and a lot of people are just hurting and just wanna just encourage them with the blessing of lower priced gas," Jeff Smith said.

Barricades had to be set up to control the crowds. The line of cars stretched bumper-to-bumper through one neighborhood.
