They Don't Know Any Better

Monday’s win over the Hawks takes the Thunder to 23 wins for the season, equaling the team’s win total from all of last season.

Excuse the Thunder for forcing their way into the Western Conference playoff picture.  They don’t know any better.  It seems that nobody told them that next year was supposed to be the one in which they make a push for their first playoff appearance in their new home.

Nobody told Russell Westbrook that his development from explosive athlete into NBA point guard was supposed to take at least two full years.  Nobody told Kevin Durant that he was supposed to fly under the radar for one more season.  Nobody told Serge Ibaka that it’s impossible to go from little-known 19-year-old project to solid contributor on a playoff-ready team in just 5 months.

Nobody told them.  Let’s make sure nobody mentions it until about June 1^st.
