A sold-out Reynolds Center. Two potential NBA players. A contrast in styles.
Tonight should be fun. The Cowboys are 6-0, the Hurricane 5-1. Last season, OSU got off to such a great start that TU found itself scrambling to stay close. This time around, Doug Wojcik's team should be better equipped to handle the quick pressure the Pokes will bring. Jerome Jordan will be tough to stop, but so will OSU's James Anderson. That brings the x-factors into play, and those would be:
TU's Justin Hurtt and Steven Idlet
OSU's Matt Pilgrim and Ray Penn
If Hurtt knocks down shots (while taking care of the ball) TU becomes much more dangerous. If OSU forgets about Idlet, he could hurt the Cowboys on the offensive glass.
If Pilgrim can stay out of foul trouble the Hurricane may not have an answer for his relentlessness on the boards. If Ray Penn continues his recent play at the point, then a lot of pressure is off Keiton Page and the other Cowboy guards.
Expect Ben Uzoh to be his usual solid self, but he and freshman Donte Medder will have to be strong against OSU's full court defense, and will have to attack the basket without letting the tempo speed up more to the Cowboys' liking.
Just some pre-game thoughts. More later.
