OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Houston Astros announced Monday the return of their Triple-A farm club to Oklahoma City, essentially completing the swap with the Texas Rangers of homes for their top minor-league teams.
The Astros were the original Triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma City from 1962 through 1972. The Rangers ended their contract with the Oklahoma City RedHawks after 28 years, instead teaming up with Triple-A Round Rock Express.
The Rangers’ acquisition of Round Rock left Oklahoma City without a major-league affiliate until the Monday announcement.
