TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Tulsa Drillers dropped their second game of the season to the San Antonio Missions 6-4.
San Antonio (3-3) scored its first two runs on solo home runs. James Darnell went yard in the top of the first and Nathan Culp homered to left in the top of the third to take an early 2-0 lead. The Missions (1-5) added another in the next inning when Luis Martinez sacrifice flied to right field to score James Darnell.
The Drillers scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth on a Wilin Rosario solo home run to left field that closed the gap to 3-1.
The Missions added one more in the top of the fifth when Logan Forsythe hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring Nathan Culp home and expand the lead to three runs.
Tulsa answered with a three run fifth inning that tied the game at 4-4. With one on and two outs in the inning, Jeff Kindel singled to center field to score Daniel Mayora. In the next at bat, Ryan Harvey hit a line-drive home run to center field that tied the game.
The game would remain tied until the top of the ninth. Tulsa relief pitcher Craig Baker subbed for Ching Lung Lo, but had control issues early on, hitting the first batter he faced and giving up back-to-back singles to load the bases. Baker walked in the winning run in the next at-bat. Cedric Hunter followed with a sacrifice fly that gave the Missions a 6-4 lead.
Lo would receive a loss for his three innings of service.
Craig Italiano came in to close the game out for the Missions and retired all three batters he faced, including striking out Jason Van Kooten to end the game. Italiano’s save secured the win for Brandon Gomes, who pitched two innings, gave up only one hit and struck out three.
