STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- The Oklahoma State Cowboys dominated Massachusetts in a doubleheader Saturday, winning by scores of 10-1 and 20-1.
In the first game, Oklahoma State put up six runs in the first inning to take a commanding lead. The Cowboys loaded the bases with their first three batters and Mark Ginther brought all three home with a grand slam over the right field wall.
OSU’s next batter doubled and two at-bats later Josh Botts doubled to right field to bring Nico Rosthenhausler home. Botts would steal third and then score on a Kevin David sacrifice fly.
Thomas Keeling put in six innings of work for the Cowboys, only giving up five hits and one earned run, while striking out 10 to earn his first win of the season.
In the second game, the Cowboys did most of their work in the fourth inning, scoring seven of their 20 runs in the fourth frame.
Botts and Dean Green both reached base as the first two batters of the inning and Luis Uribe singled up the middle to bring both of them home. He advanced to second on a Dusty Harvard single and Davis Duren brought him home with an RBI single to right field. OSU added two more unearned runs late in the inning to take an 11-0 lead.
The Cowboys added seven more in the seventh to expand their lead to 20-1.
Oklahoma State will go for the series sweep at 1 p.m. Sunday.
