EL PASO, Texas -- The Oklahoma Sooners practiced for the first time in El Paso Sunday. Notably absent, was the talk of coach Bob Stoops taking over the job at Florida, after Urban Meyer announced he will be returning to the Gators.
Stoops talked about what coaches have to do to remain healthy. Free of distractions, the Sooners were able to concentrate on their preparation for Stanford.
“The players have been awesome,” Stoops said. “I’m real pleased with their attitude and the way they’ve practiced and been attentive at meetings. It’s been a really positive experience so far.”
It has been a disappointing season by OU’s standards; however, the Sooners are concentrating on ending their season on a high note with victory over the Cardinal.
“We had a lot of ups and downs but we’re not worried about that,” defensive tackle Gerald McCoy said. “We’re focused on the now and the positive part of it which is the opportunity to play another game.”
Stanford practiced at the Sun Bowl for the first time Sunday as well.
