Man Drowns In Washington County Lake

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Oklahoma -- A South Coffeyville man drowned in Copan Lake in Washington County Friday evening.

According to an accident report, 51-year-old Richard Brown jumped off a boat and into the lake near Copan Dam. Brown Surfaced once and started coughing and then rolled over face down.

A 41-year-old woman and two teens were on board the boat but were unable to retrieve Brown from the lake.

It's not known what caused the drowning, but the report said Brown had been drinking and taking Xanax all day.
