Tulsa Apartment Dwellers Displaced By Structure Fire

Tulsa firefighters and the Tulsa Red Cross assisted residents of a Tulsa apartment that were displaced after a fire started on a balcony early Sunday morning.

TULSA, Oklahoma -- A fire that started on an apartment balcony spread to the attic of an apartment building in the 7900 block of South Wheeling. Tulsa Fire Captain Scotty Stokes said the department responded to the fire at Riverview Apartments just before 1 a.m. Sunday.

Crews were able to get the fire under control quickly, and residents of the building were able to evacuate without injury. The cause of the fire is still uner investigation.

Tulsa Red Cross provided help to the residents with lodging, food, clothing and other items according to Donita Quesnel, communications officer.

The Red Cross also helped victims of a Berryhill-Oakhurst fire at 6316 W. 64th Street overnight Sunday.
