Stupid Clouds!

Lingering cloud cover has been slow to move out.  Warming trend during the week.

I know, I know….we were supposed to have sunshine by now. As you can see from the morning visible satellite image on the right, the clouds have not moved much during the night. However, the image as well as surface observations also suggest that the clouds are slowly thinning out so we do expect to see some afternoon sunshine.

Obviously, the lingering clouds have impacted the overnight temperatures and will also hamper the warm-up for today as most of us will struggle to get much above freezing. As the coming week progresses, we will have a warming trend although again the clouds will be a limiting factor at times. Right now, it appears that Thursday will be the warmest day of the week. It will also be quite windy and if we have any kind of westerly component to the winds, then some locations could even make it to 70.

The timing of the next cold front is coming into a little better agreement now and it should be during the day Friday. That means a warm start followed by falling temperatures. Also, the abundant moisture that should be in place by then suggests a decent shot and showers and possibly some storms.

Saturday could get interesting as there it will certainly be cold but there are sufficient indications from some of the longer range guidance to suggest at least a possibility of wintry precipitation. This is obviously subject to change so stay tuned for later updates.
