October Not A Good Month For Oklahoma In Terms Of Unemployment

UNDATED – Six eastern Oklahoma counties are on the list of the state's highest unemployment rate for October 2010 according to a release Tuesday from the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission.

McCurtain County in far southeast Oklahoma topped the list with a rate of 10.2 percent.

It is followed in order by Hughes, Latimer, LeFlore, Okmulgee and Sequoyah counties.

Closer to home, Tulsa County's unemployment rate for October 2010 was 7.5 percent, up from September 2010's rate of 7.3 percent.

Osage, Wagoner, Rogers and Washington counties also saw an increases in unemployment numbers from September to October 2010.

Osage County's October's rate was 8.1 percent, up from September's 8 percent.

Wagoner County's October 2010 rate was up from September to October, 7.3 percent to 7.6 percent.

Rogers County up .1 percent from 7.2 percent to 7.3 percent for the same period.

Washington County rose 5.8 percent in September 2010 to 6 percent in October 2010.

Only Creek County's unemployment rate in October 2010 was lower than the previous month.  October 2010 was 8.1 percent, down .1 percent from September 2010.

Beaver County held the state's lowest county rate again at 3.5 percent for the month.
