MUSKOGEE, Oklahoma -- The man accused of brutally murdering a four-year-old Muskogee boy will be charged Friday.

Police say 18-year-old Aaron Laconsello stabbed the preschooler to death with a pair of scissors. They say the boy's pregnant mother was also attacked.

More signs of support have popped up on the Lane family's porch. Tokens to show the loss of a four-year-old little boy is shared by a whole community.

Four-year-old Dakota Lane was killed Tuesday night. Police say an intruder broke into his home and stabbed the little boy to death with a pair of scissors.

They say the attacker also turned on the boy's pregnant mother, Stephanie Lane. Her family says she did her best to try to save her son.

"So proud of my daughter to fight him off like she did," Jack Bumgarner said. "Ya'know being over eight months pregnant, going to deliver another child. We have another boy coming within a month."

Aaron Laconsello, 18, is now behind bars for the crime.

Veterans Day pushed his next court appearance to Friday, when he will likely be charged with first degree murder, first degree burglary, and assault with a deadly weapon.

Prosecutors say the Lane family didn't know Laconsello, although he was staying at a house just a few doors down from them.

Neighbors describe the Lanes as a good, quiet family. Stephanie Lane is a cafeteria worker at Sadler Arts Academy. Many people still can't believe the boy who loved to climb trees, play with his dog, and hunt and fish is gone.

Muskogee is rallying around this family.

There's a fund set up in Dakota's name at First National and Banc First branches. A chain of local restaurants, Boomerang Diner, plans to donate part of their proceeds on Tuesday to the family.
