OWASSO, Oklahoma -- Some Owasso school students will get a chance to learn more about the community's history after a time capsule was opened.
Construction of a new entrance to Smith Elementary School prompted school leaders to remove and open a time capsule that was placed on the corner of the building 23 years ago.
In the capsule, school officials found Masonic literature and a 1987 copy of the Owasso Reporter newspaper.
The students were not able to witness the opening because it was in the construction zone and school officials weren't even sure there was anything inside.
School leaders will put the items on display for the students to see.
