CLAREMORE, OKLAHOMA – A Louisiana man is behind bars accused of raping a woman outside the Will Rogers Downs Casino in Claremore early Saturday morning.
William Shane Courville, 33, was arrested on charges of first degree rape and forcible sodomy.
The Rogers County Sheriff's Office said Courville approached the woman outside the casino and led her to a horse barn. The woman told deputies Courville ordered her to take her clothing off and threatened to beat her if she refused, according to a press release from the Rogers County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said Courville walked the woman back to the casino following the alleged rape, where she reported the incident to kitchen workers, who contacted authorities.
Cherokee Nation Marshals, along with Sheriff's investigator Brandon Hill, identified Courville through surveillance video from the casino, which showed him walking with the alleged victim.
"The Marshals made this case come together quickly," Hill said.
Courville denied the alleged rape. He claimed he woke up to find "a nude woman making gestures toward him to engage in sexual activity". He told deputies he did not engage in any sexual activity with the woman, but instead "ran her off," according to the Rogers County Sheriff's Office.
Courville is being held in the Rogers County Jail on $50,000 bond.
