TULSA, OKLAHOMA – Oklahoma ranks among the top states for texting, according to a new Nielsen study released Tuesday.
The study, which didn't rank states numerically, found the average number of monthly texts per person is more than 600. Six other states – Utah, Wyoming, Kansas, Mississippi, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Delaware- also averaged more than 600 monthly texts per person.
Not surprisingly, the study found teens text the most. Nielsen said teens send or receive 2,779 messages a month.
The results were compiled from April 2009-March 2010. Nielsen analyzed the cell phone bills of more than 60,000 subscribers each month in the United States.
