CATOOSA, OK -- The state and feds are seeking public input on the future of the westbound state Highway 66 bridge over Bird Creek in Rogers County.
The bridge was built in 1936 and Oklahoma Department of Transportation officials say it does not meet the current width, load or safety designs for the type of high volume traffic on the bridge.
At a meeting on Tuesday in Catoosa, ODOT and the Federal Highway Administration will talk about several proposals to improve the width and load carrying capacity and to bring the bridge up to current design and safety standards.
The meeting will gather public input, which will help planners identify any social, economic and environmental impacts that may result from the project.
The meeting will include a presentation about the proposed improvements include why the improvements are needed, the alternatives being considered, and the expected impacts to motorists.
The meeting is Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Catoosa Indian Activity Center at 2000 South Cherokee in Catoosa.
