Man Dies In Single-Vehicle Accident In Sequoyah County

A fatality collision occurred at about 7:00 Saturday morning on Interstate 40, mile marker 327 westbound in Sequoyah County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

SEQUOYAH COUNTY -- A fatality collision occurred at about 7:00 Saturday morning on Interstate 40, mile marker 327 westbound in Sequoyah County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Troopers report a 1997 Chevrolet pickup driven by 31-year-old Matthew Eckles of Alma, Arkansas, was traveling westbound on I-40, went off the roadway for an unknown reason, went into a slide and overturned two times. Eckles was ejected from the vehicle and the vehicle came to rest on him, troopers said.

Eckles was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the collision.

Troopers report a seat belt was not in use.
