TULSA, OK -- Crews removed derailed train cars off the Burlington Northern Santa Fe track at First and Greenwood in downtown Tulsa Saturday.

Tulsa Police, Fire and Hazmat crews responded to the derailment at about 11 a.m. Saturday.

No injuries or hazardous leaks were reported.

Six cars from an approximately 132 car train were turned on their sides as they went around a curve on the track. Fire officials at the scene said it was fortunate the cars were empty with the strong south wind and the crowds at the ONEOK baseball field opening just a block away.

"All of a sudden there was this loud boom. Like boom, boom, boom; consecutive," said Fran Shive.

Shive says she was admiring the new baseball field when she was startled by the loud noise.

"I didn't know what it was. I thought it was an explosion of some type, so we left," said Shive.

Willard Koch of Tulsa was downtown for the open house at the new Driller Stadium too when he saw the train go off the track.

"We were parked at the Oklahoma Eagle parking lot and saw people running," Koch told NewsOn6.com. "The cars just started falling."

Koch took photos of the derailment that are featured in a NewsOn6.com slideshow.

Railroad officials worked to uncouple the derailed cars, but calls have not been returned as to why the train derailed.
