BROKEN ARROW, OK -- Who in the world would want an electric Harley Davidson motorcycle? A Harley without the loud pipes would be what, exactly?
A couple of guys in Broken Arrow are going to find out.
Dave Yonce and his partners are going to convert a Harley to all electric. They really believe anything powered by gasoline or diesel will run on electricity.
"You can just go and buy the stuff yourself and convert it yourself," said Dave Yonce, of Electric Thrust.
They are not inventing new technology, just using what is already out there. Battery technology is improving, so conversions will be lighter and go farther on a charge.
They've been converting gasoline vehicles to electric for years. They're going to change over the Harley and a Mini Cooper to all electric over the next few months.
They've hired a photographer who'll record the work. They'll put the video on their web site so we can watch.
The "how to" video began Monday on the Electric Thrust web site.
