TULSA, OK -- The City of Tulsa spent far more than what was in the budget for snow removal this winter.

City Streets Maintenance Chief Dan Crossland says the city of Tulsa has spent $212,000 just in overtime pay for storm cleanup so far, while only having $65,000 budgeted.

Crossland told the Tulsa City Council Tuesday morning he was hoping no more snow plowing would be needed because it would only add to the problem.

He said his department was looking through all upcoming expenses for possible cuts to offset the spending.

"We're down to getting everything we can get from the bottom of the barrel" said Dan Crossland.

Crossland told councilors the city spent $567,000 on salt, while only having $200,000 in the budget.

"It's going to be very, very tight. This winter has really done some damage," said Pat Connelly, Budget Director for the city of Tulsa.

Connelly told councilors they might have to appropriate more money to get the Tulsa Street Maintenance Department through the end of the fiscal year.
