Girl Dies After Being Hit By Pickup Truck Outside Catoosa School

CATOOSA, OK -- Catoosa Police say a 12-year-old girl has died after being struck by a pickup truck near the school district campus Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened just before 3 p.m. Thursday in the 2000 block of South Cherokee Street.  Police say the girl was walking home because she had missed the bus. 

Catoosa Police say the girl tried to run across the road and was struck by a pickup truck towing a trailer, about 300 feet north of the campus, at the point where the sidewalk ends. 

They believe the driver of the truck was not at fault.

The girl was transported by ambulance to a Tulsa hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Her name has not been released.

Catoosa Police are still investigating the accident.
