TULSA, OK -- An adoption event will be held Tuesday morning concerning the eight Tulsa Police Department Mounted Patrol Unit horses.
Back in October, the city of Tulsa announced it was cutting the police department's mounted patrol unit as part of an effort to trim $6 million from the budget.
The eight horses found homes with non-profit organizations thanks to a donation by the Hillcrest Foundation to the Tulsa Community Foundation.

Organizers say the five outstanding and deserving community organizations and charities have been matched with the eight horses.
The horses are currently housed in stables at the Tulsa Police Department's training center.
The adoption ceremony will take place at the stables Tuesday at 10 a.m.
