TULSA, OK -- A fire at a Tulsa apartment complex early Wednesday morning has damaged at least eight apartments and displaced five families.
Tulsa Fire was dispatched to The Lakes Apartments at 81st and Wheeling before 6 a.m.
Firefighters say no one was injured in the blaze. One family had to escape the fire by climbing out a second floor window.
The fire was contained to two apartments but six other nearby apartments sustained smoke and water damage.
In addition, a nearby stairwell collapsed during the fire.
Tulsa Fire District Chief Bill French says the fire was accidental in nature and was caused by a shorted out wire behind a wall.
The Red Cross is assisting the families impacted by the fire.
