Flu Shots Available At Tulsa's Southcrest Hospital

TULSA, OK -- The rush to get an H1N1 vaccine out of testing and into production could mean a shortage of the vaccine for the seasonal flu.

"At this time, there is a little bit of a shortage because they used part of the preservative to make the H1N1 one, so a lot of the bigger systems aren't getting their vaccine in now.  The hospitals aren't.  We may see part of a shortage, that's why we're letting the public get their vaccines now," said nurse Natalie Jones.

Nurses at Southcrest Hospital were some of the first in line to get their regular flu shot on Friday.  Once you get the vaccine, it takes about two weeks for your body to build up immunity to that strain of the flu.

The hospital is offering flu shots for $35 while they have them.
