Oklahoma Lawmaker Seeks Web Site Investigation

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A state lawmaker is calling for an investigation into a Web site that maintains public court records for 61 Oklahoma counties.

Rep. Mike Reynolds of Oklahoma City says the Web site, hosted by Duncan-based Kellpro, charges a fee to view public information about defendants who are convicted in state district courts.

Reynolds said Friday he was researching the case of David Earls, who made national headlines after he was sentenced to just one year in jail for raping and sodomizing a 4-year-old girl.

Reynolds says he was shocked to find that public records about Earls weren't available without paying a fee to view them.

He says he has asked Rep. John Wright, chairman of the House Government Oversight Committee, to convene a special meeting to look into the matter.
