SAPULPA, OK -- A Creek County man arrested over the weekend on assault and battery complaint has had the complaint upgraded to second degree homicide.
Creek County Chief Investigator Michael O'Keefe says on October 11, sheriff's deputies responded to a reported attempted suicide.
The caller identified as 53-year old Billy Jack Blose, told deputies the victim had shot himself.
The victim, Travis Nelson, 29, was found with a gunshot wound to the neck. Nelson was taken to a Tulsa hospital.
In talking with Nelson's mother, deputies were told Blose and Travis Nelson had been in some sort of disagreement. The mother, Sheri Cosper says she heard loud voices and then a gunshot.
Blose was arrested and booked into the Creek County jail on a complaint of aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Shortly after Blose was released from the Creek County jail on bond on October 13, Nelson died.
O'Keefe says deputies then upgraded the criminal complaint against Blose to second degree homicide and submitteded it to the Creek County District Attorney.
