Tulsa Police say they will be trying to prevent alcohol related traffic accidents this weekend.
The reason is Monday, which is St. Patrick's Day, a time when the focus is on drinking green beer. The focus for the Tulsa Police Department will be preventing DUI related traffic accidents and arrests.
Last year, Tulsa Police made 23 DUI related arrests during the three day weekend surrounding March 17.
This year, police will be stepping up patrols and conducting increased "Saturation Patrols and Directed Patrols" around those areas that are frequented by party goers.
Thanks to a DUI Enforcement Grant from the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office, TPD officials say they will be able to use overtime to provide these additional police officers to identify and remove intoxicated drivers from the roadways.
