The Make-A-Wish chapter in Oklahoma has 60 pending wishes for kids with life-threatening illnesses.  Sixth graders at Cascia Hall have worked hard during February to raise enough money to grant two of those wishes.  The News On 6's Rick Wells stopped in on Friday morning and found them jumping rope and shooting baskets.

The students were shooting baskets to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

"We're doing this for two kids, they have like terminal illnesses, we're just trying to make their lives better by doing something special for them," said Noelle Janak.

The average cost of a wish is $6,500 so the goal is $13,000.

Sarah Pennington says she's doing pretty well.

"I've collected $100 from flat donations so far," said Pennington.

Parents and teachers were there to keep score and cheer them on.

They tried to make the project big enough to involve the entire sixth grade class.  If a student wasn't into hoops there was something else they could do.

"We've got some musically talented kids that made the CD's that you guys heard playing today," said Project Chair Shae Hedrick.

Latin classes learned medical terms, theology classes made posters, art classes made cards, really something to involve everybody.  Jumping rope if you didn't want to shoot hoops and that is really what this whole project is about learning about community involvement and helping others.

The students have one more week to collect donations and pledges.  They hope to have the $13,000 so both wishes can be granted.
