NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops has a new nickname for freshman quarterback Sam Bradford: The Big Easy.

Bradford's easygoing approach has been a constant this season while leading the fourth-ranked Sooners (7-1, 4-1 Big 12) and developing into the nation's second-highest rated passer.

At Wednesday’s weekly news conference, Stoops said Bradford is smart, very genuinely humble and likes to share the attention. He says all those qualities come easy for him, hence the nickname.

Bradford has completed 69% of his passes for 1,872 yards, 20 touchdowns and five interceptions.

When the Sooners return to the field November 3rd against Texas A&M, he'll have a chance to break the school's freshman passing record of 2,018 yards set by Rhett Bomar two years ago.

Last week Bradford struggled in windy conditions in a 17-7 victory at last-place Iowa State and also criticized himself for some poor decision-making.

He called the game another step in the learning process.
