A war hero from Sand Springs is among those who will be inducted into the Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame this year. Staff Sergeant Billie Hall is among ten inductees who will be honored November 8th in Oklahoma City. The Army medic was killed in Vietnam while helping wounded soldiers. Those who served with him describe incredible bravery and courage.

"Since he is an Oklahoma boy, that is a very prestigious award, to be able to be inducted into the Military Hall of Fame,” said Hall’s widow, Janice Billue.

Efforts are underway to upgrade Hall's Silver Star to the Medal of Honor. Supporters gathered 7,000 signatures on petitions which were given to Oklahoma's political leaders.

The matter is now before the U.S. Department of Defense.
