A Bartlesville educator is Wal-Mart's Oklahoma Teacher of the Year. Erica Derryberry teaches 9th grade physical science and biology at Bartlesville Mid-High school. The Teacher of the Year honor means a $10,000 educational grant for her school, plus several special gifts for her.

"I'm in total shock right now,â€ said Erica Derryberry, Wal-Mart Oklahoma Teacher of the Year. â€œI'm very excited and honored to receive this. I'm so grateful that I get to come here everyday and do what I love everyday and get an award for it."

Derryberry was nominated for the regional award by her students.
