Some Tulsa residents are taking advantage of the summer weather. On Friday Volleyball enthusiasts took the sand at Helmerich Park, at 71st and Riverside, for the 19th annual Sandblazer. The event is more than just an invitation to enjoy some fun in the sun; it also serves as the kick off to the communitywide Day of Caring campaign.
“This is not a fundraiser, this is really to get people involved,†said Kathleen Coan with the Tulsa Area United Way. “They understand United Way is something really important, but it's also fun and involve hundreds and hundreds of people.â€
On Saturday more teams will compete in the Corporate Volleyball Tournament. There is no charge to watch the games, which begin bright and early at 8 a.m.
