Oklahoma Community Named Best Place To Live

The City of Jenks is now ranked one of America's best places to live. The distinction comes from â€œMoney Magazineâ€ and their annual search for the 100 best places to live in the U.S. News On 6 anchor Jennifer Loren hit the streets of Jenks on Tuesday. She reports residents say Jenks has all the ingredients of an award winning community.

Jenks, Oklahoma, or as some say Jenks, America, has been put on the map. Itâ€™s ranked number 43 in â€œMoney Magazineâ€ as one of the 100 best places to live. Folks who hang out in Jenks think that's right on.

"I think we love it! We've had a really good time. We went to the main street, went to the antique stores and now we're down here just walking around having a great time," said Tulsa resident Cheryl Pendleton.

The magazine mentions the Riverwalk Crossing as one of Jenks' jewels. Bill Cutsinger brought some old friends to Jenks to see how things have changed while they've been gone.

"They're impressed. Theyâ€™re flabbergasted. They have been gone for maybe ten or eleven years and they're just flabbergasted of all the development we have along this particular area," Tulsa resident Bill Cutsinger said.

The magazine gives credit to the small town charm with the conveniences of a growing city, like the Oklahoma Aquarium. It also took into consideration things like the median family income, housing prices, culture and even the weather. One of the most important criteria on the list is a low crime rate, and Jenks' mayor says theirs is what they're most proud of.

"When you look at crime rate and quality of life, and where we rated in those was exceptional," Jenks Mayor Vic Vreeland said.

But the education, he says is why people move here.

"I mean any time someone's going to move to the Tulsa area and they have kids, the first thing they look at is the school system. And thatâ€™s a real easy choice,â€ Vreeland said. â€œWe're by far the best school system in the country."
