NEW YORK (AP) _ Three players with Oklahoma ties are selected to play for the National League squad in this year's Major League Baseball All-Star Game.
Outfielder Matt Holliday of the Colorado Rockies and second baseman Freddy Sanchez of the Pittsburgh Pirates were chosen Sunday as NL reserves.
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Brad Penny is on a short list of candidates who could start on the mound, as the former Broken Arrow star sports a 10-and-1 record and a 2.00 ERA.
Holliday, from Stillwater, is an All-Star for the second time and received more votes from his fellow players than anyone else in the National League.
Sanchez is a former standout at Oklahoma City University.
