ARDMORE, Okla. (AP) - A Washington man accused in the death of an Edmond resident will face a February 4th preliminary hearing on a first-degree murder charge in the killing of a friend. Darrell Madden appeared before a Carter County judge yesterday, dressed in a hospital gown and attached to an intravenous machine.
Prosecutors have charged Madden with the fatal shooting earlier this month of Bradley Qualls. Madden also faces five counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Bond has been set at 5 million dollars.
Ardmore police officers escorted Madden from his room at an Oklahoma City hospital to court. Sheriff's deputies will return him to the metro-area hospital and stand guard outside his room.
He has undergone surgery to repair his arm after an Ardmore police officer shot him during his alleged carjacking attempt.
Earlier this week, Oklahoma County prosecutors charged Madden with first-degree murder in the death of Steven Domer, whose body and burned out vehicle were discovered near Madden's McClain County residence.
