OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A national editorial writer says Oklahoma needs to revisit tort reform if it wants to compete economically.

Wall Street Journal opinion writer John Fund made the comments today at a lunch sponsored by the conservative think-tank Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs.

Fund says a tort reform bill passed by the Oklahoma Legislature this year is a good-faith effort by Governor Brad Henry. Most Republicans say the bill was weak.

The measure easily passed the House and Senate, despite complaints by Republicans the bill was tilted in favor of trial lawyers.
