(Frederick-AP) -- Jeannette Hall has wanted to ride a horse across the country since she first sat on a pony.
Today, she and her 16-year-old horse, Pops, take off from southwestern Oklahoma on her dream journey.
The 27-year-old Pennsylvania native will leave Frederick and follow the path Bud and Temple Abernathy took on a cross-country ride to see former President Theodore Roosevelt in 1910.
Hall says she was inspired by the Abernathys, who were ages six and ten when they made the two-thousand-mile trip alone.
Hall's friend Collon Brown from Toronto plans to accompany her on the trip. Brown says he plans to keep a journal of their experiences along the way.
