OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A federal appeals court has thrown out a former nursing home operator's appeal related to his conviction on bribery counts.
The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed the appeal of E.W. Jiles on grounds that as part of a plea bargain, he waived his right to appeal.
Jiles pleaded guilty in Oklahoma City federal court to money laundering. He bribed a state official to have nursing home residents transferred from facilities that the state shut down to his nursing homes.
Jiles received a 63-month prison term. He had sought to appeal his sentence, not his conviction.
