After six hours of testimony and deliberations Monday night, the Sand Springs school board decided not to renew the teacher’s contract.

John Davis teaches 9th grade science in Sand Springs. School officials say, despite written admonishments, Davis answered a sexually explicit question from a student, which it says is enough not to renew his contract. Davis says he was asked a sexual question in class, but he didn't answer the students.

In the end the board decided to let Davis go. John Davis: "people in the community told me this was going to happen before I even started it. I felt it was important to show the students to go ahead and stand up because what happened here tonight. I feel good about because I told the truth."

Davis’ wife Virginia Davis: "I'm so disappointed, and I'm hurt. You can see how the students and parents are equally disappointed. I think Sand Springs is losing a great asset, a great teacher."

Davis plans to take the school district to court to try to reverse the board's decision.
