An Oklahoma US Marine is being honored for his heroism during operation Iraqi Freedom.

Marine Sergeant Kyle Provencher was awarded a Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal for valor. Sergeant Provencher was leading a squad of Marines on security patrol when they were ambushed by Iraqi militia.

Provencher quickly directed small arms fire and maneuvered his squad to counterattack.
