Firefighters believe a fire in a heavily wooded area in Creek County was intentionally set. It burned an area between 81st and 91st streets west of 166th.

Sapulpa firefighters worked all day Thursday, and into Thursday night trying to control the fire. The combination of windy conditions, rugged terrain and dry vegetation forced firefighters to try to contain the situation.

At one point, the fire came within 100 yards of area homes. Resident Terry Sellers: "Grass fires sometimes happen this time of year, but when someone intentionally sets it. This is our home, we've worked hard on our home and I just don't think these people were thinking."

Investigators believe the fire was set in four places. They also have a description of a suspicious vehicle in the area.

Fire crews are watching the scene of several fires west of Tulsa Friday morning. A grass fire happened Thursday near 5800 South 68th West Avenue.

And it kept fire fighters busy for awhile. No homes or buildings were damaged. But the strong winds made it extremely tough for firefighters to put out.
