(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Dahlonegah Public Schools ranks at the top of Oklahoma school districts in the state's Academic Performance Index.
The school in Adair County in northeastern Oklahoma scored 1,373 on the index, which measures testing, attendance and college remediation.
Dahlonegah schools were plagued by financial problems in the last decade and the state even had to take over the district temporarily.
Deer Creek Public Schools in the Oklahoma City area scored second-highest in the state.
The state's average score was up 47 points from last year.
The Tulsa district had the seven lowest-performing schools in Oklahoma. Hamilton Middle School received the lowest score in the state.
