BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (AP) _ County Commissioners have voted to rescind a county use tax approved last spring.
Washington County Treasurer Stan Stevens and several local business leaders, including the county's largest employer, ConocoPhillips, opposed enactment of the half-cent tax, which went into effect June 1, and had called for commissioners to rescind it.
Revenue generated by the tax was earmarked to go to the support of county emergency 911, emergency management and courthouse improvements.
A resolution to enact the tax was approved by commissioners in April. It was rescinded Monday.
