(Norman-AP) -- OU Football Coach Bob Stoops says his team needs to improve to live up to its ranking in the Associated Press's preseason college football poll.

The Sooners were ranked number 1 on the poll that came out Saturday. Stoops says if Saturday's scrimmage had been broadcast the team would have dropped in the polls.

Stoops says the team had too many turnovers and the offense was sluggish on some plays.

The Sooners scored six touchdowns, including one by the defense.
